Innovations in pellet formation techniques pioneered by New Life have resulted in pellets that require less wheat (or other terrestrial grain) binders than typical dry foods. Instead, seaweed based binders both assist in stabilizing the pellet while providing a great source of aquarium nutrition.

A limited amount of grain can have a place in aquarium foods beyond binders: they can serve to synthesize proteins and lipids. Yet too much can be converted to fat, or contribute to aquarium waste. In addition to a reduced wheat binder in our pellets due to our techniques, New Life Spectrum® also avoids starch ingredients like corn meal.
